One of my favorite experiences is when I get to combine my love of music with the excitement of meeting new people! I am delighted to join you and the musicians of Northwest Sinfonietta to explore nature through the musical landscape of Beethoven’s Pastorale Symphony. Some of my clearest memories from childhood are wandering through the woods in my backyard, singing and making up my own fairytales. I would take my horn to the back porch and play for woodland creatures. I still love to be outside and to create music in nature. One of my favorite performances was on a small organic farm, when we discovered that the sheep, upon hearing the music, had journeyed from the neighboring field to graze right behind the orchestra. Even though we are inside for this performance, we can let our imaginations follow Beethoven’s melodies to feel the cool air, see the sun dancing on the stream, and smell the earth as it wakes up in spring. I am thankful you are here to take this adventure together!
