New Concertmaster and Operations Manager & Librarian!

January 12, 2023

We are delighted to welcome our two new team members as we begin our 46th season!

"After a national search, with some outstanding local, regional, and national candidates, we selected Dawn Posey as our new Concertmaster.  We were very impressed with both her musicianship and her approach to leadership, " says Music Director Yaniv Attar. "We are confident she will be a wonderful addition to our orchestra, and look forward to continuing our musical journey with her."

Posey is a violinist who currently lives in Pittsburgh, but has been hoping to move to the West Coast for some time. As a regular performer at classical music festivals on the West Coast, she fell in love with the outdoors, access to mountains and ocean, and the lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. "When this opportunity opened, it just felt right," says Posey.

Posey is a founding member of Kassia Ensemble, a  chamber music ensemble in Pittsburgh made up entirely of female performers, which seeks to empower women through quality performance, collaboration, and outreach. She will solo on Ralph Vaughan Williams' "The Lark Ascending," at the BSO's opening concerts Saturday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Baker Theatre.

Operations Manager & Music Librarian: Rebekah Hood-Sava joins us just in time for our 46th season. With a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance & Suzuki Pedagogy and Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Hartford, CT, she is uniquely qualified to step into these roles.

“Rebekah’s background in performance, orchestra operations, and librarian roles is the perfect fit for us as we continue to grow,” says Executive Director Gail Ridenour. “We routinely get rave reviews from national soloists who perform with us, and these roles support our ability to continue to grow our reputation on a regional and national level. We’re glad to have her join our team!”
